The social media platform has announced the launch of Voice DMs on Twitter India. Twitter India posted a video on how the new feature works. He wrote: Starting today, you will be able to record and send voice messages in DMs here's how to use them and the trial will be rolled out in stages.

According to the video, users can start recording DMs using a small icon placed to the right of the message box. Audio DMs can be up to 140 seconds long. Twitter even offered an option to review the audio message before hitting send. This feature is currently only available on the Twitter mobile app and not on the website.
Android Central also reports that browsers can still play audio clips.

Twitter India managing director Manish Maheshwari, according to an Android Central report, said the voice messages are designed to "give people a new way to express themselves and help them communicate through the nuances, emotion and empathy created by hearing someone's voice."

Features similar to Voice DMs are already available on other social media services like Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
